which means:to be a double citizen. Because of your requests I was thinking a bit, what would be interesting for you about my life from this aspect. Probably the most striking thing is that when my dad is at our place (they are divorced btw) most of the time they talk german with my mom because this was the language they both knew when they met. Of course my dad speaks hungarian now, but when he wants to say smth fast it's easier for him in german. He talks hungarian to me, sometimes danish and I'm replying in hungrian :D The reason is that when I was little I didn't like that my friends couldn't understand what we are saying with my dad so I switched to hungarian. And of course when they got divorced and we didn't meet that often anymore, I wasn't talking danish on a daily basis. That's why I'm not speaking it on a native level. How nice it would be! But I'm not complaining, still if I spend around 2 weeks in Dk. I get a lot better in the language. I have more trouble with writing. Returning to my dad..when we are texting or seding mails, it's in english because he still couldn't figure out all the tricks of the hungarian grammar..but I'm not blaming him for this :D The linguistic helter-skelter is the funniest when we are all at the same table..well there is just a great mixture of german, danish, english and hungarian, but I can't really feel it, sounds like one language for me. Because we have relatives there, we travelled every 2nd year, that's why a funny thing could happen. At the age of 3 I was travelling on a plane before even trying a bus or train. About my mom's cooking I can say she makes a lot of danish food, her cookbook is danish as well. That's why at Christmas (besides the hungarian food) we eat avocados with shrimps and we also hold a traditional danish lunch with a lot of fish ans snaps(which is similar to the hungarian drink, pálinka) I can't really judge Hungary from the outside as I was born and raised here. The good thing is that because of the many memories I feel I belong to Dk. too when I'm there. But I also think if it hasn't been for the many visits I wouldn't feel danish at all because then only my dad would be the connection. Here at home a lot of things remind me of Dk. for example the danish flag which you can find everywere in the country. On birthdays they put it on the table ( we do this too), if there is a discount in a shop they make it more visible with flags around it or if there is a celebration they decorate the streets with it. I also have a lot of video tapes and storybooks in danish. At one point I had 2 passports and if I wanted to I could get a danish one now too but nowadays I'm only bringing my ID if I'm going. It's a good feeling to know, there is another place to call home :) This was what I could come up with as a 1st trial but let me know if I missed smth but you are interested in it!:) You are more than welcome to ask:)
