Discover Budapest | coffee | Liberté

5/02/2016

Recently i've been surfing Instagram and found this cute coffee place, that  - at first glance - looked like it's not even in Budapest. After a little research, i found out that it's downtown and actually pretty close to where i live, so i decided then and there; i have to go sit in those gorgeous blue chairs.

The name comes from the original hungarian name of the caffee that used to be in this exact spot, in the early 1900's.  Caffee " Freedom" was a famous place and it had writers and poets as their regulars. It became Liberté in 2015, and although they kept the huge interior, the design reminds me more of the 1970 America. Maybe this is the reason why i thought, that it must be a foreign caffee.

Almost all tables are different, but they stick with the blue-gold theme, so even if it seems that not everything matches, they go perfectly together. I especially like the flower pattern on the floor and this huge amount of green plants. They just liven the place up.

Since we are talking about a caffée, there are a lot of coffees to select from. I opted for an ice latte when we visited. They don't overcomplicate it, it doesn't have ice cream in it, so i got exactly what i wanted; a lot of coffe with some ice. If i remember correctly, they had some lemonades as well as some alcoholic beverages. You don't have to worry if you're hungry eather, there's plenty to choose from.

Liberté opens at 8 am, which means they serve breakfasts as well, and lately they added lunch to their repertoir.  Although we haven't tried them, we looked at the cakes and cookies, and if they even taste half as good as they look, you won't be complaining. In the warmer weather they have an ice cream corner too, where you can take your order to go, so no need to sit in the caffée.

The beautiful interior suggested that the prices are quite high, but if i think of it, they are just standard Budapest prices. Of course it would be expensive to dine here everyday, but you can afford to sit in with a cup of coffee; the interior is totally worth it. I think i'll try their food as well, when i'm near the next time.

Mit gondoltok a helyről a képek alapján? Nektek is megjött a kedvetek egy kávéhoz? :)

What do you think of the place, judging by the pictures? Did you just get the urge to have a coffee here? :)
